Path #3 - Your Story!

Axinia

Hey! My name is Axinia and I spent the school year 2021/22 abroad. I am originally from Germany and being in the US was the best time ever and I even extended. The diversity of the country is amazing and the amount of things I am learning while having fun at the same time is incredible.

I was allowed to call West Palm Beach, Florida 'my home' for that year and being so close to the beach, and having summer all year long made it a clear 10/10.

Antonia

So I flew to New Baden, Illinois in August 2019 and went to Wesclin High school. My host parents were a very young couple who had 3 dogs and 1 cat. I always got along with them and I considered them my bigger siblings rather than host parents because we had a relatively small age difference. The people at my high school have also welcomed me with open arms (my school was relatively small had only 400 students) I have also quickly found connection and after about 3 months I was an established member of the school, have participated in cross country and cheerleading so I have of course fulfilled a girl's dream and in the end I was also in the track team but unfortunately my stay was ended early by Covid what makes me sad to this day because I haven't experienced all the special events like prom and graduation.

Olga

Hi I'm Olga and I am from Poland. My decision to spend a Year in the US was the best decision I have made in all my life. I have met amazing people and I plan to spend here next year too.

Right now I am in Port Saint Lucie, FL. It is alright, but not my favorite. I think there is better places, that are more fun to people my age. I still love the U.S. and as I said, I want to stay longer.

Astrid

Hi my name is Astrid. I’m from Denmark and I’m currently living on an island in Florida. This has without a doubt been the best year in my life. I’ve made the best friends ever and I have a perfect host family - who treats me like their own daughter. One of my favorite things to do here is to spend time with my friends. I am so happy for all the great memories I’ve made with them - they mean the world to me.

Johannes

Hey everybody! My name is Johannes and I’m from Denmark. I’m currently in Naples, Florida on an exchange year. What I love most about Florida is the beaches and that people are so welcoming to exchange students.

Greta

Hey, my name is Greta, i´m from Germany and at the moment (2022) I am doing an exchange(half)year in southern California. I did a self placement – which basically means I knew the family before and got placed with friends of my parents : ) Doing an exchange year was my dream for a really long time and one of the best decisions ever! I found an amazing friend group and made the best memories ever.

If you are thinking of doing an exchange year DO IT!

Sueda

I'm Sueda, I'm from Turkey and I've been to Nebraska, U.S. It was absolutely an amazing experience. I made life-long friendships, of course. I spent a lot of effort towards my academic goals too and I had quite a successful year. My host family was great too! Getting to know a culture that closely at a young age and getting involved was a unique experience. I was a long way from home so this really helped me discover myself in a free environment. I support everyone who wants to have the same experience if they can.
